School Field Day Rentals & Planning in Rhode Island
Planning a field day for a whole school is mostly a math problem: how many students, how many stations, and how long each class spends at each one. Wavy Bounce has been delivering field day rentals to Rhode Island schools, PTOs and PTAs for years. This page walks you through building a rotation that keeps lines short, and lists the equipment that fits each station.

Step 1: Count stations, not inflatables
A simple rule for field days: plan one station for every class that is out at the same time. If six classes rotate at once, you need six stations. Inflatables carry the high-energy stations; giant games and relay areas fill out the rest.
Step 2: Match equipment to grade level
| Station type | Best for | Wavy Bounce options | Notes |
|---|
| Obstacle course (high throughput) | Grades 2–8 | WIPEOUT (36 ft x 16 ft), Shape Shifter Lagoon (48 ft x 10 ft, wet or dry), Glitch Gamer's Obstacle Course (about 70 ft long) | Kids race through and exit, so lines keep moving. Needs a long, flat area. |
| Bounce house | Pre-K–Grade 2 | Bounce houses | Group by size. One staff member at the door. |
| Bounce + slide combo | Mixed ages | Combos | Dry use in spring; wet use in warm weather if water is nearby. |
| Interactive games | Grades 3–8 | Powerline 3-in-1, Big Sports Player and the Dual-Lane Inflatable Throwing Game | Short turns, good for competitive grades. |
| Lawn games (low staff) | All grades | Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, Cornhole, Kan Jam | Good "cool-down" station between inflatables. |
| Shade / water break | Everyone | 10x10 and 10x20 tents, tables | Put one at the center of the rotation. |
| Treat station | End of day | Snow cone and cotton candy machines | Run by adults. Needs a nearby outlet or a generator. |
| Foam finale | Warm-weather field days | Foam party machine | Outdoors only. Plan a changing or dry-off plan. |
Step 3: Build the rotation
- Choose a station time of 10–15 minutes, plus 2 minutes to walk to the next one.
- Put inflatables on opposite sides of the field so crowds don't bunch up.
- Keep the water/shade tent in the middle.
- Schedule the youngest grades on inflatables first, while energy and supervision are highest.
Step 4: Check the site before you book
- Measure the setup area: length matters most for obstacle courses.
- Surface: grass is best. Tell us about blacktop or gym floors ahead of time.
- Power: each inflatable needs an outlet within reach. No outlet? Add our Honda 2000 W inverter generator.
- Access: tell us the gate width and the path from the truck to the field.
- Rain plan: if our crew doesn't set up due to inclement weather, you get a full refund. Our crew makes the safety call.
Step 5: Paperwork
We provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) on request and can add your school or district as certificate holder. Send any district requirements early. Our equipment is cleaned and inspected before every event, and our crew handles delivery, setup, the safety walk-through and pickup.

Frequently asked questions
How many inflatables do we need for a school field day?
Plan one station per class rotating at the same time. Most schools use 1–2 obstacle courses or bounce houses for the high-energy stations and fill the rest with giant games and relay areas.
What is the best inflatable for a field day?
An obstacle course. Kids run through it and exit, so it moves more students per hour than a bounce house. WIPEOUT, Shape Shifter Lagoon and Glitch Gamer's are our field day favorites.
Do you provide a certificate of insurance for schools?
Yes. Wavy Bounce provides a COI on request and can list your school or district as certificate holder.
How much does field day delivery cost in Rhode Island?
Delivery is free within 10 miles, then $1.75 per mile. Nearby Massachusetts and nearby Connecticut (mileage fee applies) are served at the same rate.
When should we book field day rentals?
In March or April for May and June field days. Popular obstacle courses book first.
