Indoor Fun Day Ideas for Rhode Island Schools and Gyms
Cold, wet days don't have to cancel a school celebration. Inflatable obstacle courses, interactive games, and bounce houses can move into a gym, cafeteria, or church hall for a winter fun day, a reward day, or a PTO family night. Here's how to plan an indoor event that fits your space.
Indoor event ideas that work
Measure before you book
- Ceiling height: measure the lowest point, including lights, beams, and basketball hoops. Tell us the number so we can suggest units that fit.
- Floor space and doors: measure the open floor area and the narrowest door or hallway the equipment has to pass through.
- Floor surface: tell us ahead of time if setup is on a gym floor.
- Power: each inflatable needs a standard outlet within about 75–80 ft, and a dedicated 20-amp circuit works best.
Plan the flow
Use the same rotation math as a field day: one station for every class in the room at once, 10–15 minutes per station, and a couple of minutes to switch. Put the inflatables on opposite sides of the gym so groups don't bunch up. Our field day station planner has a table of stations by grade.
Keep foam outside. Our foam party machine is for outdoor use only.
Staffing the stations
Adult supervision is required during inflatable use. If you'd like help, add Wavy Bounce event attendants: $45 per hour per attendant, with a 3-hour minimum ($135 per attendant).
Paperwork and booking
We provide a certificate of insurance on request and can list your school or district as certificate holder. Schools can pay by school check or pay online to reserve the date. Book an obstacle course valued at $450 or more and we'll include a free bounce house or inflatable game when inventory allows.
